What was your first position/job in the A/E/C Industry? Assistant Project Manager

Why the A/E/C Industry? I became interested in Architecture once reaching high school. But when introduced to the construction classes at Wentworth, I found myself drawn to the actual building, planning and estimating processes rather than the design portion of the project. I have found this career choice fulfilling, exciting and challenging!

If you had to choose one word to explain why you do what you do, which one most suits you? And why? Variety. There is no typical work day in the A/E/C industry. The uniqueness of the challenges that we face, unforeseen elements or variables that affect a project, and adapting to those situations is what makes this job exciting.

Advice/Keys to Success: Be confident! Believe in yourself, and also support your team. The success of a project is not because of one individual. Countless people contribute to a project’s overall success, or failure. Additionally, communication is imperative, but remember that you do not have to be the loudest-person-in-the-room, to be a great communicator. Listening to others and hearing different opinions or viewpoints can be educational to you and to others, and help guide the path of a project.
