2018 Women in Construction: Charlotte Ejiet, ML McDonald

March 30, 2018 - Spotlights

Charlotte Ejiet, Second Year Apprentice, ML McDonald

Years in the industry: 1 year

What associations or organizations are you a member of? NERCC, Carpenters Local 336, NERCC Sisters in the Brotherhood

If you had a mentor in your career, who was it and what did they teach you? Chris Cain, Theresa Haymon and Cheryl Lieteau are some of the most transformative role models I’ve had the fortune of learning from within my first year of apprenticeship. They are steadfast, experienced carpenters, who are deeply invested in the trade, and yet take time to guide apprentices like myself, generously imparting invaluable knowledge.

I’m thankful for the UBC’s instructors’ ability to inspire curiosity and diligence. Their dynamic and eclectic teaching styles are effective with my autistic learning style. It’s at this point, in my adulthood that I’m realizing how fun and simple learning - even complex things like math and welding, can be!
