Westport, CT Building Permit No. 69484 was issued to 1200 Post Rd. East LLC by the town of Westport Building Department for construction of Crate & Barrel's 37,000-s/f store at 1200 Post Rd. East, and Peter van Witt was named managing partner. The development will include an additional 20,000 s/f of retail space in the complex newly named "The Galleria."

The property owner, 1200 Post Rd. East, LLC, said the additional retail space at the 57,000 s/f development will be leased primarily to highly sought after home décor and accessories businesses, keeping within the property's theme as a home design shopping destination. Cushman & Wakefield's Jim Fagan, senior managing director and Adam Klimek, associate director, have been appointed as the development's exclusive leasing agents.

Built in 1978, the three-story property formerly known as Carriage Hill South will undergo excavation and major renovations to transform it into a full galleria of shops. It will be comprised of four to five additional retailers and interconnected by walkways. Crate & Barrel will take occupancy of three levels of the building in early summer.

"The Galleria is poised to become one of Fairfield County's most desirable shopping destinations," said Fagan, who is also head of Cushman & Wakefield's Fairfield and Westchester county region. "This is a prime Westport retail location, and with Crate & Barrel as the anchor tenant we expect tremendous leasing success. This will become a much sought after location for any retailer looking to capture Fairfield County's home furnishings business."
