Purtel of Grubb & Ellis named chairman and chief elected officer of BOMA International at the 2008 BOMA Conference

Richard Purtell, RPA, portfolio manager, Grubb & Ellis Management Services, Inc., BOMA/Greater Cincinnati, has been named chairman and chief elected officer of the Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA) International. Purtell was sworn in at the 2008 BOMA International Conference and The Office Building Show in Denver. His term runs through June 2009. Purtell joined Triple Net Properties in the fall of 2006. Following the merger of NNN Realty Advisors, the parent company of Triple Net Properties, and Grubb & Ellis in Dec. 2007, Purtell transitioned to Grubb & Ellis. Purtell has been an active member of BOMA at the local, regional and international levels since 1982. He served as president of BOMA Greater Cincinnati (1990-1991); president of Ohio BOMA (1994-1995 and 2006); BOMA International executive committee member and president of BOMA International's North Central Region (1995-1999); chair of the Industry Defense Fund Committee and as secretary/treasurer of BOMA International (2002-2005). In addition to his service on various committees, Purtell is also one of the chief architects of BOMA's new Accredited Building Program which will debut in fall 2008. The program will recognize excellence in building performance based on a wide variety of criteria, and will help building owners and managers show their tenants that their property meets or exceeds industry standards.
