Simsbury, CT McCarter & English attorneys John Mallin and Jessica Villardi, assisted by Charlie Ray, Jane Warren, Tiffany Stevens, Matt Weiner, and Kim Chudzik, closed a $46.5 million transaction in which Hartford Life and Accident Insurance Co. purchased its office building located 200 Hopmeadow St. from an investor group that had acquired the building in 1984 in a sale/leaseback transaction.

In addition to acquiring the office building also consolidated its holdings in the town through a transfer of surrounding properties from its affiliated entity, HARCO Property Services, Inc. The 300,000 s/f building which was acquired is the home office for The Hartford's life insurance operations and its mutual fund operations. Negotiations for the concluded transaction began almost two years ago and included a myriad of issues relating to the property and its valuation.
