J.K. Scanlan Company, Inc. has been awarded two contracts by the Division of Capital Asset Management (DCAM) with a total contract value of $18.6 million. Each contract includes the design and construction of two 1.65MW Vestas V82 wind turbines. These turbines will be located at the North Central Correctional Institute and at Mount Wachusett Community College.
J.K. Scanlan is dedicated to the implementation of renewable energy as well as the monetary and environmental benefits yielded from the construction of wind turbines. A joint collaboration of DCAM and the Department of Energy Resources (DOER) through the "Leading by Example" program, Gov. Deval Patrick's wind power goal is coming to greater realization. The construction of these turbines will provide tremendous benefit to Mass. taxpayers through electrical power savings by the two institutions, as well as providing surplus electricity to the power grid.
Construction is scheduled to begin in May and be completed by December.
