The International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 103 and National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA), Boston Chapter appointed Matthew Lash to the position of business development director.
In his new position, Lash will be responsible for outreach to the Greater Boston construction-user community, regulators and other stakeholders, advocating the dynamic joint resources and capabilities of the IBEW and NECA organizations in electrical, telecommunications, and renewable energy project construction, training, continuing education, and safety, as well as the organizations' proactive roles in labor relations and government affairs that are impacting the electrical construction industry and the construction industry in general.
"The Local 103 team has worked tirelessly to ensure IBEW Local 103 workers deliver the highest quality workmanship in the most professional manner on every jobsite, and that the union electrical construction industry remains vitally important to the growth of Boston and to the Greater Boston community," said business manager Michael Monahan. "Matt's experience and understanding of the unionized electrical industry, and his knowledge of issues that impact the industry, including regulatory affairs, will enhance Local 103's efforts in assuring projects throughout Boston are built responsibly. He will further expand the business pipeline for unionized electrical and telecommunications contractors and their hard-working employees."
Lash most recently served as NECA Boston Chapter's assistant executive director, a position he held for three years. There, he began several market development initiatives that will carry over to his new job, particularly regulatory and licensing issues that impact a contractor's ability to compete fairly and also that ensure public safety in electrical construction.

Matt will communicate the NECA-IBEW track record of construction excellence and our role as industry leaders in all aspects of electrical construction to the region's construction users."

Lash formerly served as director of business development for IBEW Local 300 in Burlington, Vermont. He has also worked as a public relations professional in New York City. He earned a bachelor of arts in journalism and mass communications from St. Michael's College.
