Mercedes-Benz of Burlington to include green roof for site plans - to be dedicated to Ann Cummings

According to Mercedes-Benz of Burlington, they will be including a green roof in its site plans following the unanimous approval from the Burlington planning board during the site and design review process for the property at 80-82 Cambridge St. The project team plans to dedicate the roof to former planning board member Ann Cummings who has worked for the past eleven years to bring eco-friendly building practices to the town.
"We are excited to announce the plans for installation of a partial green roof on our planned Mercedes-Benz of Burlington project," said Bernie Moreno, owner of Mercedes-Benz of Burlington. "Through this dedication, we are honoring the hard work and devotion of Ann Cummings to the town of Burlington and to the promotion of environmentally friendly practices."
Mercedes-Benz of Burlington has worked closely with town officials, town meeting members and the Burlington community since the inception of the project. During Thursday's meeting, the Planning Board commended Moreno and his team for their collaboration and dedication to the development of the best possible project.
"I am really hoping this will spur other developers to see this as an asset to the community and to their projects, as they are able to stay cool without running a lot of air conditioning," said Cummings. "Burlington's a great town and we should be ahead of the curb."
In late January, Mercedes-Benz of Burlington received the approval of town meeting for the rezoning of the site to a Planned Development District (PDD), allowing for the construction of the proposed auto dealership. The zoning change extended the PDD commonly known as "Burlington Corporate Center" to include the property at Cambridge St.
