John M. Corcoran and Company held the opening of The Commons on the Green, a new one-of-a-kind residential community. Consisting of 72 new apartment homes, the $18.2 million, LEED-certified multifamily building is located at SouthField, a smart growth community, within 1/3 mile from the South Weymouth Station on the Commuter Rail, featuring more than 1,000 acres of conservation, open and recreational space.
"The Commons on the Green represents a step forward in the transformation of the former Naval Air Station into one of the South Shore's most desirable neighborhoods," said Rick High, president of John M. Corcoran and Co. "Featuring a sustainable design, unparalleled amenities and an unbeatable South Shore address just steps from the MBTA commuter rail, The Commons on the Green represents a new standard in easy living."
The Commons on the Green's 72 designer apartment homes offer a range of stylish and luxurious eco-friendly features, including bamboo wood flooring and granite countertops. The smoke-free community is a sustainable building design and LEED Certified. Residents enjoy an array of amenities, including a Wi-Fi Café with outdoor patio, a saltwater swimming pool, a rooftop sundeck and grilling area, a poolside grill, a fire pit, a fitness center, a clubroom and a game room. The Commons on the Green and its sister property, The Commons at Southfield Highlands, are located 25 minutes south of Boston, is minutes from Rte. 3 and a short walk from the MBTA's South Weymouth Commuter Rail Station.
"We at Dellbrook would like to thank the John M. Corcoran and Company team for the opportunity to help expand their presence at SouthField" said Dellbrook project manager, Michael O'Connell. "By working together we were able to deliver a high quality building under budget while furthering their commitment to green building with a LEED Gold building."
"The staff at LDD Collaborative have provided the landscape architecture services on the Southfield project since its inception. It was a wonderful opportunity to work with the John M. Corcoran & Co. and project designers in developing a landscape design that is environmentally responsible, reduces landscape maintenance operation cost and unifies The Commons on the Green landscape with the surrounding community," said Michael Farias, principal and partner at LDD Collaborative.
