According to SIOR New England Chapter, Inc., Timothy O'Brien has been awarded the 2014 Robert W. Holmes SIOR Scholarship at the 15th Annual Scholarship Night on September 25. Held at the Algonquin Club, O'Brien was joined by several other SIOR members including Jim Boudrot, executive vice president at NAI Hunneman and outgoing SIOR New England chapter president, Allen Gump, vice president at Colliers' Dallas-Fort Worth and SIOR executive committee member, and Tim Brodigan, senior vice president at Colliers' Boston and incoming SIOR New England chapter vice president. In addition to the scholarship presentation, Boudrot took the opportunity to introduce Don Mancini, principal at Kelleher & Sadowsky Associates, as the incoming president of SIOR New England chapter.
O'Brien joined Colliers in 2007 as an associate, specializing in suburban brokerage. With leasing activities focusing in the Rte. 495 and Metro West submarkets, he has been able to excel in the industry by establishing strong relationships with top-tier companies and property owners. Due to his strong work ethic and track record for success, he was promoted to vice president at Colliers in 2013. O'Brien was selected for the scholarship from a large pool of suitable candidates because of his success in the industry and overall outstanding merit.
"Tim's extensive network and rapid growth as a commercial real estate broker made him a prime candidate for the 2014 scholarship," said Boudrot. "He has demonstrated superb leadership throughout his professional career in and out of the work environment. We are pleased to offer him this scholarship on behalf of SIOR."
Prior to his employment at Colliers, O' Brien was a territory manager for Biomet 3i in Boston where he built lasting relationships and perfected his communication skills, both of which are vital in the commercial real estate industry. Additionally, he worked as a senior account executive with All Copy Products in Denver, Colorado. O' Brien is active in multiple charitable funds including The American Ireland Fund for Young Leaders and Big Brothers Big Sisters Foundation of Boston, and graduated from Babson College with a bachelor of science degree in Business Administration.
"I am honored to be this year's Robert W. Holmes Scholarship recipient and placed in the company of previous winners," said O' Brien. "I am excited to start the process of becoming an SIOR designee to further enhance my real estate professional development and the outstanding opportunities that will come from building new relationships within the community."
The Robert W. Holmes SIOR Scholarship was named after Bob Holmes, long-time SIOR member, past SIOR chapter president and founder of the R.W. Holmes Realty in Natick.
