Best New Workplace Large Renovation
>50,000 s/f
Havas/Arnold Worldwide Boston Headquarters: Recognized for selecting a neighborhood, and a building, with rich history, and in so doing, fueling its revitalization. As the anchor tenant in the iconic 1912 Daniel Burnham Filene's Building in Downtown Crossing, Arnold and its four other Havas brands occupy 125,000 s/f. Intent on rethinking space and real estate holdings, the entire staff went to bench seating, reducing square footage needs by over a quarter. A collaborative design effort between Architect, Developer, and employees is worthy of note as it created a win-win for Havas, as well as, future tenants.

Small Renovation
<50,000SF
Fidelity Investments: Redefining 245 Summer Street: Recognized for bringing into alignment its headquarters building with its best in class customer experience aspiration - Fidelity set out to not only alter the customer perceptions but that of employees while purposefully "curating" an experience that could be replicated across their portfolio. 3,000 employees and 1,000 visitors daily now efficiently move through the building. The centralization of "The Hub," which includes: Health and Wellness, IT Guru Bar, concierge services, and mobile work center increased visibility and usage.

Best New Construction
Bruce C. Bolling Municipal Building: Dudley Sq., once a thriving urban district, it had experienced decades of decline. The late mayor Menino envisioned a revitalization of the historic neighborhood, whose transformation is being facilitated, in large part, by the relocation of the Boston Public Schools, 215,000 s/f headquarters, at the site of the Ferdinand Furniture Store. This entirely new facility, which supports 500 employees, incorporates the historic facades of The Ferdinand, Curtis, and Waterman Buildings, engaging the community with ground level retail to support neighborhood needs. The open office environment, which was displayed in mock-up form at City Hall prior to its installation, supports BPS's vision for transparency, and encourages and welcomes parents to participate. The offices have become a City of Boston standard.
