Representatives from the Middle School building committee, town officials, State legislators and Middle School students broke ground with Gilbane leading the effort on the Middle School campus.
Gilbane is serving as construction manager for the program encompassing construction of a two-story 97,000 s/f classroom addition scheduled to be completed in summer of 2016. Phase two and three encompasses the renovation of nearly 50,000 s/f of the existing middle school, including the gymnasium, cafeteria, music and administration areas. Phase four includes the construction of new athletic fields in 2017.
"We are thrilled to be working with the town of North Haven to renovate and expand this educational facility for the students while working with the town leaders, the community, and our partners on this project," said John Hawley, vice president and Connecticut Business unit leader. "Today's school facilities require more technology and flexibility, maximizing all aspects of building sustainability, energy and resource efficiency. We look forward to offering the expertise and lessons we've ascertained as one of the leading K-12 facility builders in the nation to ensure that the renewed North Haven Middle School is a source of pride for the entire community for years to come."
