In 2017, the Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection (DEEP) released an update to the state's Comprehensive Energy Strategy (CES), "an assessment and Strategy for all residential, commercial, and industrial energy issues, including energy efficiency, industry, electricity, natural gas, and transportation."
CTGBC is delighted to welcome DEEP Deputy Commissioner Mary Sotos to the Energize CT Center in North Haven on January 18th for a discussion on the CES and its applicability to the built environment.
As the Energy Deputy, Mary is responsible for the development and implementation of energy policies designed to bring cheaper, cleaner, and more reliable power to Connecticut’s families and businesses – and integrating these efforts with a 21st century approach to regulating and directing the state’s electric, natural gas, and water utilities.??Before joining DEEP, Mary served as the Policy Lead for the U.S. Energy Program at World Resources Institute (WRI), a highly respected Washington D.C.-based non-profit organization. Mary provided technical guidance to states designing and implementing new clean energy standards and emission reduction policies. She worked with large utilities, state public utility commissions, and Fortune 500 companies to pursue cost-effective business models and utility tariffs for deploying renewables.?
