Tiverton, RI Longplex, a 167,000 s/f family and sports center, is coming to town and will be located in the town’s industrial park along Progress Rd.

Owner James Long of Middletown has hired LDL Studios of Providence, Bobby Quint of CFGS LLC and DiPrete Engineering for their site engineering expertise. Cris Offenberg from Silva, Thomas, Martland and Offenberg Ltd. was instrumental in the sale of the parcel and obtaining land use approvals.

The center will provide an indoor and outdoor space for sporting and family activities. It will include two turf fields, volleyball and basketball courts, a karate center, an outdoor ice rink and a restaurant. There will also be private rooms for birthday parties or conferences. The second floor will offer gym space, an indoor running track, a bouncy house and an arcade courtesy of Ryan Family Amusements.

DiPrete completed the land surveying, site design, landscape architecture, and construction documents for the Longplex project. Approvals were obtained from the Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management and the town. The project is unique in that DiPrete Engineering worked with the town in 2011 to design and permit the 66-lot industrial park that the recreation center is located in.

“We were in a unique position where we were able to combine our expertise with the goals of the town as the property owner and with the vision and needs of the developer to get the best possible results,” said Chris Duhamel, vice president at DiPrete. “The result was truly a win-win project and facility for the town and our client. Molly Titus, project manager for the development, had the difficult job of designing the expansive facility and parking on a site with ledge, high groundwater and steep slopes all while meeting the stringent RIDEM Stormwater regulations.”

Construction on Longplex is underway and expected to be complete in early 2017.
