J.M. Electrical Company, Inc., Cannistraro and Gwynn Systems, Inc. began the construction and installation phase of building controls systems on the city's Lovejoy Wharf at 160 North Washington St. The 237,000 s/f LEED Silver luxury residential, office, and retail complex will require superior and streamlined integrated building systems to support an elevated quality of living, working, and leisure activities. The technicians at J.M. Electrical, Cannistraro and Gwynn Systems were selected to construct and install the facility's sophisticated and comprehensive control systems that will support and operate this new development.
The project calls for a diligent schedule and requires electricians to work in residential units, office levels, and designated retail spaces, which all have unique requirements and specific challenges. In an effort to reduce energy demand and consumption while simultaneously guaranteeing reliable energy delivery for power, heat, and water, J.M. Electrical technicians will be responsible for installing automated heating and cooling control systems, utilizing Gwynn Systems' American Automatrix System, throughout ten floors of the mixed-use development.
"This is turning out to be a very thrilling project for J.M. Electrical and we are pleased to partner with Cannistraro throughout the duration of this development," said Paul Guarracino, president of J.M. Electrical. "Recognizing the importance of a sophisticated control system, along with the need for high-end security and plumbing systems, allows the experts at J.M. Electrical to utilize a wide-range of skills to ensure that this project is completed on time and on budget. This collaboration will save money and energy, while also providing a higher standard of living and working for all occupants."
Cannistraro is delivering all plumbing, HVAC, and fire protection systems for the project. They are responsible for furnishing and installing all base building plumbing systems, including all roof and storm drainage, core bathrooms at each level, future sanitary and vent stacks, as well as a basement booster pump, four sub-slab pressure relief pumps for tide and groundwater, and four drain ejectors.
"This is a very significant project in the city of Boston," said Joe Cannistraro, CFO of J.C. Cannistraro. "We are grateful for the opportunity to be a part of such a collaborative team with Beal Cos., Related Cos., Suffolk Construction and our fellow Associated Subcontractors of Massachusetts (ASM) members as we deliver this outstanding project together."
Located in downtown, the rehabilitation and construction of Lovejoy Wharf is projected to be completed in 2015.
