Norton, MA Polar Design Build, a Braintree-based construction management firm that services clients in the New England region, has been selected to construct a 11,698 s/f facility from the ground-up for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). The new building will be located on a 5.43 acre parcel within the Norton Commerce Center industrial park, and Polar Design will perform work under a Federal GSA Contract. This location will be the new home to NOAA agencies, the River Forecast Center (RFC) and the Weather Forecast Center (WFC).

Polar Design will commence site work this spring. The exterior of the building will be constructed with brick veneer, expansive glass windows, and horizontal architectural metal panels. The modern interior design will include private offices on the perimeter with a bullpen area for RFC and WFC operations. The floor plan will include a conference room, break room, training room, printer/copier area, and storage area. Additionally, there will be a center core restroom with a private wellness room. The computer room will house the main data interchange equipment, and required Liebert cooling units. The building will feature VAV heating with a separate back-up system for redundancy. In the event a power outage or inclement weather, the entire building is also backed-up with a gas generator.

NOAA’s new River Forecast Center and Weather Forecast Center is located off Rte. 495 in the Norton Commerce Center industrial park making it a convenient location for operations and commuters in the Southeastern Massachusetts Region.
