Pro Con, Inc. (PCI) continues to lead the way in single source green building design and construction. Our integrated design build team is uniquely qualified to provide a seamless solution to our client's green building goals. Current examples include:
The Residence Inn by Marriott Portsmouth Downtown hotel that is nearing completion is a 5-story, 96,000 s/f mixed use building with 128 hotel guest rooms and a 12,000 s/f conference center. The Owners and PCI are aiming to make Portwalk a LEED certified mixed-use development and the Residence Inn, New Hampshire's first LEED certified hotel. PCI recycled 95% of the waste material from the former 2-story, 86,000 s/f Parade Mall which was demolished to make way for the new downtown center. In addition to installing energy efficient windows, Portwalk is using regional & recycled materials in construction and incorporating environmentally beneficial strategies such as using white roofing, deploying water efficient landscaping, and promoting alternate transportation.
Keene, NH's first environmentally friendly "green" hotel, a 65,795 s/f, 100 guest room Courtyard by Marriott, is on target to be completed by June 2010. PCI and the Owners are pursuing LEED certified recognition from the US Green Building Council for the hotel. The LEED program provides independent third party verification that the facility is designed and built using strategies aimed at improving performance across building metrics including; energy savings, water efficiency, improved indoor environmental quality and stewardship of resources. PCI is using regional & recycled materials in construction and is incorporating environmentally beneficial strategies in the hotel's development and daily operations.
Alta at Indian Woods, a 154 unit apartment community currently under construction in Stoughton, MA, is one of the few four-story projects participating in the Massachusetts New Homes with ENERGY STAR program. The project focus is on a high efficiency building envelope and optimal HVAC distribution performance. The project design calls for an inch of rigid insulation on the exterior, slab edge and under-slab insulation, as well as high performance cavity insulation; window U-values of .3; and ducts that surpass the standard for tightness.
