Construction on the new 100-room, Residence Inn by Marriott hotel located at 670 Turner St. is 75% complete. Pro Con Inc. is the architect and construction manager for the $7.8 million design build, which is being developed by Auburncourt, LLC.
The 4-story, 75,256 s/f hotel reflects a new generation of Residence Inn by Marriott with exterior stone veneer, gable windows and cathedral ceilings in the Gatehouse and pool areas. The hotel, 6 miles from I-95 and across from the Auburn Mall, will offer studios, one and two bedroom suites with kitchens and separate sleeping and living areas.
The Gatehouse will feature a hearth room including a fireplace, breakfast buffet area, guest market, meeting room and study area. Plans call for a connected pool house with an indoor pool, spa, fitness room and guest laundry.
Pro Con began site work in March 2008 and has scheduled a spring completion date.
Residence Inn by Marriott is designed for the extended stay traveler with suites that are up to 50% larger than comparable hotel rooms, offering separate working, lounging, and sleeping areas. Each suite also has a fully equipped kitchen with microwave, stove, refrigerator, dishwasher and coffee maker. As part of Marriott's effort to have the Residence Inn feel like a guest's "home away from home", the hotel will offer guests a complimentary continental breakfast and evening social hours. The hotel will also have an outdoor patio area with a gas fire pit, barbeque station and an athletic sports court.

"The exterior of the hotel is complete with the final painting and final paving scheduled for the spring. The interior finishes are on-going with the mechanical, electrical, fire protection and plumbing systems in the finish stages of installation," according to the Pro Con Inc project manager. "We're scheduled to be placing furniture in the rooms by the end of February; it is very exciting to see the hotel take shape."
