Name: Norman Barrett Jr. - 1966

Company: R. M. Bradley & Co., Inc.

Location: Boston, Mass.

Birthplace: Medford, Mass. – 1930

Education: H.S.; Dartmouth College (Major – Lieralb Arts) Member: GBREB; MAREB; NAREB; S.I.R. Norm is a man who likes mountains and chile weather, that is, Chile in the summer when there’s good skiing in the Andes, and Vermont in the wintertime. 1954 found Norm in the Green Mountains of Stowe, Vt., where he hauled down 530 tobogganists to safety and their crutches. That summer in Farellones, Norm taught the native Chileans the art of skiing and balance. Later, he fell into real estate with Martin Cerel, and eventually became Sales Manger of the Cerel-Perini Corp. It was in 1960 that the young man on the flying skis came to R.M. Bradley’s industrial department, working with John Fallon and Fred Stockwell: “I’ve spent the bulk of my time renting and leasing in the suburbs.” And his time was well spent – Norm leased the 129,000 sq. ft. General Electric Lab in Allston, the 21,000 sq. ft. Honeywell plant in Hobbs Brook Ind. Park, and Butler’s Shoe Corp. in the Rte. 1 Ind. Park, to name a few. And Norm melds his love and total involvement in skiing into a modest business philosophy: “You’ve got to like the real estate profession – It’s not an 8-hour a day job, it’s a full-time occupation.” A man who has come up against nature’s toughest trials, and a professional who has succeeded in one of the most difficult of professions, Norm knows the value of solid preparation: “A new broker must be thoroughly grounded in this industry and all its aspects. If I were to advise a new broker, I’d tell him to join a real estate office where he can get experience in every field of real estate.”
