May 17, 2019 - Connecticut

Hartford, CT The Connecticut/Western Massachusetts chapter of the Society of Industrial and Office Realtors (SIOR) held their regular spring meeting at Greenbox Interior Solutions showroom at the historic former Colt complex.

Greenbox Interior Solutions is a sustainable prefabricated office build out system, resulting in a high degree of customization with faster construction times at lower costs.  Greenbox is owned by De Clercq Office Group, one of the chapter’s annual sponsors, who hosted and sponsored the meeting event.  It also included a networking hour, dinner, and a presentation featuring the design, engineering, fabrication, and installation of the Greenbox Interior Solutions product.

The chapter’s newest associate member, Pam Elkow, from Carmody Torrance Sandak & Hennessey, was recognized and warmly welcomed to SIOR by all members in attendance.

The Spring 2019 World Conference was held at the Omni Shoreham Hotel in Washington, D.C. General session speakers included Joseph Coughlin, director of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology AgeLab, who spoke about “If Demography is Destiny, What is the Future of Real Estate;” Robin Chase, founder and former CEO of Zipcar, addressed the future of transportation; and Greg Lindsay, senior fellow of the New Cities Foundation, discussed “Big, Smart & Green – How Cities Shape our Future.”

A number of chapter members attended the conference, which featured forward thinking general sessions around demographics, transportation, technology, and urban/community planning and trends. The chapter once again sponsored a senior real estate major from the University of Connecticut, Stephanie Maule, to attend the conference.
