Guilford, CT The Residences at 66 High St. is an upscale condominium development. The Horton Group has taken great pride in preserving the natural beauty of the historic mill building that was built in 1884. This adaptive reuse of the historic mill, has transformed into 15 condominiums within walking distance to the town green, restaurants, shops, train station, marina and beach.
In November, 66 High St. was chosen as the Project of the Year by HBRA of CT, as well as Best Condominium Community, Best Luxury Condominium Unit & Best Historic Rehab Overall. The HOBI Awards is the state’s most prestigious housing program, recognizing excellence in new construction, remodeling, sales and marketing, land development, and home financing. A reception was held on November 16th at the Aqua Turf with almost 800 attendees.
?The mill building is nearing completion, Unit 8 is finished and is now home to the sales office. Unit 4 is on deposit, and units 3, 6 and 7 are just about finished!
The Whitfield building is now fully enclosed; walls, windows and roof are in. The concrete decks have been poured and blue stone will be applied to finish off the area. Electrical feeders have also been complete to power the Whitfield building.
The development project consists of a full renovation of the 130-year-old existing mill building and three additional new buildings. Included in the renovation is the home to one of Connecticut shoreline’s largest Quonset hut structures with wood bowstring trusses which have been preserved in the living spaces.
The team behind the Residences at 66 High St. comprises of individuals with significant experience in historically sensitive projects, including developer Kenny Horton of the Horton Group who built all of the units, and Ron Nault of Luch’s Consulting. The architect is Robert Gryzwacz of Decarlo & Doll and the landscape architect is Towers-Golde.
The site is in downtown, offering an urban lifestyle close to the Guilford Green, one of the largest in the state, and its many free events, as well as the train station, shops, restaurants, beach and marina.
