What was your first position/job in the A/E/C Industry? This is the first position that I have had in the A/E/C industry. Previously, I worked for a CPA firm in auditing and several of my clients were contractors, so I had some familiarity with the industry.

Why the A/E/C Industry? I was recruited to Interstate by a former co-worker who I considered to be a mentor. Based on what I had learned about the industry from former clients, I knew it to be a vital component of the economy, providing the basis for so many other companies and industries. It was and remains clear to me that no other industry – health care, software, pharmaceutical or even banking and finance - would exist without the electrical infrastructure that powers everything. It is really exciting to be a part of it.

If you had to choose one work to explain why you do what you do, which one most suits you and why? Passion. I believe that to be successful in a chosen profession - whether as an electrician, estimator, accountant or lawyer - you must love what you do and be passionate in pursuing your career. This is what motivates you to seek mentors who can help you to fully understand the nuances of your chosen field, so you can achieve that next level of expertise you are seeking.
