2021 Ones to Watch: Timothy Corsetti, Vice President of Operations, Congress Construction

May 28, 2021 - Spotlights

What led you to your current profession? I was lucky enough to grow up in the construction industry. My father was an architect and a builder so from a young age I was introduced to blue prints and job sites and I couldn’t be happier with where that has taken me so far.

How do you keep your team motivated despite conflicts and obstacles? Conflicts and obstacles are one of my favorite parts of the industry and I’ve found that sitting down and communicating with my team, working through the issues together is one of the best ways to keep everyone motivated.

Which project, deal, or transaction was the “game-changer” in the advancement of your career? I would say my first project as a superintendent was the “game-changer”. I was overseeing the renovation/conversion of a rural hospital to a mental health facility. The project involved tight deadlines and in an occupied renovation above an emergency room. After completing that job, I was hooked on construction management and driven to make a life-long career in the industry.

What advice can you offer to someone who is interested in a career in your industry? The best advice I can offer is to ask questions and be open to learning from anyone. When you are onsite you are surrounded by skilled tradesmen, intelligent design consultants and successful owners - don’t let that opportunity pass you by.
