What person, project, transaction, or market trend had the greatest impact on your industry this year? Post COVID reactions had a significant impact. Companies were still trying to figure out what officing formula to implement. Inflation continued to impact building costs. Increased interest rates made it more difficult to finance development projects. On the positive side, the drive to be closer to the end user (the consumer) kept the industrial market in demand.
What was your greatest professional accomplishment or most notable project, deal, or transaction in 2023? While perhaps not notable in former economic environments, it was rewarding to complete several substantial office transactions in 2023. Many office users chose to wait and see where things would go before making commitments. So it was great to work with several clients that were forward-thinking and ready to make educated, long-term real estate decisions.
