City officials recently joined Brian Bucci and Hoxsie Properties, LLC associates to celebrate the groundbreaking for Hoxsie Crossings, a $2.2 million private development at Hoxsie Four Corners, at the intersection of Warwick Ave. and Airport Rd.
A building that currently exists on the property at 17 Airport Rd. has been vacant for some time, but once housed a liquor store, an aquarium, and a number of other enterprises over the years. That structure, which had become somewhat of an eyesore in an area that has seen a remarkable transformation in recent years, will be razed.
In its place a new, 6,500 s/f "vanilla box" building, which will be home to a Starbucks Coffee and a Papa Gino's Pizza, will be constructed. Patrons will find ample off-street parking in the 51-spot lot that will be built, and a detailed landscaping plan will complement the design of the building as well as new development in the area.
The businesses that will call Hoxsie Crossings home will enjoy high visibility in one of the most heavily traveled areas of the city that is only yards away from the fence line of T.F. Green Airport.
Hoxsie Props. joins several other companies that have made multi-million dollar investments in the area in the past few years; Wal-Greens, Chelo's Good-to-Go and the Hess Gas Station have greatly revitalized this area with attractive building facades, attractive landscaping and neatly-kept properties.
Hoxsie Crossings will be a welcome addition to Hoxsie Four Corners, long considered a gateway into historic Conimicut Village, which has also seen a number of improvements, thanks to the efforts of our non-profit partners like EBC House, House of Hope, Friends Way and the Warwick Housing Authority, which all together have invested millions of dollars to improve existing properties and create new development in the area.
