The Commercial Brokers Association (CBA), a division of the Greater Boston Real Estate Board, held its second annual CBA Bike Tour to benefit Caritas Communities, a Boston-based non-profit organization that provides affordable housing to the Greater Boston community.
The bike tour, which took place in August, offered a 25-mile and 50-mile route, beginning and ending at 300 Baker Ave. in Concord. The event raised $10,000 towards Caritas Communities and was sponsored by Meredith & Grew and Normandy Real Estate Partners.
"The CBA has a long history of charitable giving," said John Lafferty, executive director of the CBA. "Under the leadership of committee chair Steve James, CBA Charity Bike Tour continues to grow: in number of riders, corporate sponsors and dollars raised."
"Caritas does important work, in providing housing for the working poor," said James. "I am proud that CBA continues to play a role in supporting the mission of Caritas Communities."
P. Leo Corcoran of the John M. Corcoran & Co. real estate firm founded Caritas Communities in 1985. Together with members of the Greater Boston real estate community and other concerned citizens, the organization set out to create affordable housing for working men and women by purchasing, renovating and professionally managing single-room occupancy buildings.
