Warwick, Rhode Island website

In an effort to help promote and increase public transportation ridership, make it more convenient for people looking to do business with the City, and decrease pollution, the city's website,www.warwickri.gov, now includes information for people utilizing Rhode Island Public Transit Authority (RIPTA) bus services.
Warwick is the first municipality to have this information online, with other cities and towns and state departments and agencies soon to follow suit.
Our website now includes directions to the following locations: Warwick City Hall, the Buttonwoods Community Center, the Pilgrim Senior Center, McDermott Pool, Thayer and Warburton Ice Arenas, Mickey Stevens Sports Complex, the Warwick Public Library main branch and branches in Norwood and Conimicut, the independent library in Pontiac Village, our police and fire department headquarters, and the Rocky Point walking path and trail.
Governor Chafee, RIPTA CEO Charles Odimgbe and I jointly issued a press release announcing the initiative. The governor noted that he is "committed to operating a customer-friendly public transportation system that provides the best possible service to the people of Rhode Island" and that the outreach effort will allow RIPTA users "to more easily reach their needed destinations - a more efficient and effective outcome for both RIPTA and its riders."
The overall goal is to educate people as to the easiest way to use the public transportation system of RIPTA and to show people how to get to governmental entities using mass transit.
To find the information online, go to www.warwickri.gov/RIPTA, or visit our main page and click on the RIPTA link to the right.

Scott Avedisian is the mayor of Warwick and the chairman of the RIPTA board of directors.
