Commercial Realty Advisors sells Market Street Bookshop in Mashpee

Mashpee, MA Commercial Realty Advisors, Inc. (CRA) has completed the sale of Market Street Bookshop, a well-known independent bookstore located in Mashpee Commons. The transaction marks a new chapter for one of Cape Cod’s local businesses, ensuring that the bookstore’s legacy will continue under new ownership.

The buyer, Jonathan Robinson of Indie Shops, based in Birmingham, Alabama, acquired the business with a vision of preserving and strengthening independent Main St. retail. Indie Shops works to modernize locally-owned businesses by helping entrepreneurs launch new retail concepts, acquiring established legacy businesses to transition them to local stakeholders, and providing a cloud-based point-of-sale and e-commerce platform designed specifically for high-volume independent retailers.

For more than 15 years, Market Street Bookshop has served readers from across Cape Cod and beyond from its highly visible location in Mashpee Commons. Under the ownership of Cynthia O’Brien, the bookstore earned a reputation as more than simply a place to purchase books. It became a gathering place for readers, local authors, and visitors seeking a thoughtfully curated selection of literature and Cape Cod titles. Through author signings, community engagement, and personalized customer service, the bookstore established itself as an important part of the cultural fabric of Mashpee Commons.

During the marketing process, Commercial Realty Advisors recognized that the business offered value beyond its financial statements. The opportunity included an established brand, loyal customer base, turnkey retail buildout, extensive inventory, and exceptional location within one of New England’s premier mixed-use shopping destinations.
