Eckman Construction breaks ground on River's Edge Apartments; Developed by the laconia area community land trust

A ceremonial groundbreaking celebration was held at the future site of the River's Edge Apartments. After months of collaboration with developers and designers, Eckman Construction will begin building a new 41,000 s/f multifamily housing complex containing 32 apartment units on Union Ave. Developed by the Laconia Area Community Land Trust, the new apartment building will transform an abandoned downtown site into a riverside living community. "This is a great project for the Laconia Area Community Land Trust and the city of Laconia," said Preston Hunter, vice president, Eckman Construction. "We are excited to deliver a brand new housing option for the residents of Laconia to enjoy in such a unique location with the river serving as a backdrop." Demolition has been completed and sitework is underway. The site for River's Edge Apartments is located adjacent to the Winnipesaukee River.
