Former mayor Doyle named VP business dev. officer at BCSB

Bristol County Savings Bank (BCSB) has named former mayor, James Doyle, to the position of vice president business development officer at the bank's city banking office at 215 Armistice Blvd. Doyle, who served 13 years as mayor and a total of 40 years in public service, ended his 6th term as mayor. Doyle has had a long-standing relationship with BCSB, serving as a board member of Bristol County Savings Charitable Foundation (BCSCF) - Pawtucket Advisory Board (PAB) since 2001 and as a corporator since 2002.

Prior to Doyle's tenure as mayor, the city native served on the city council for 27 years, including council president from 1982-1987. He also held the position of sales representative for Massachusetts Envelope Company, as well as, several pharmaceutical companies. A 1960 graduate of Providence College with an AB degree in education, Doyle started his career as an english and social studies teacher at Pawtucket West High School (now Shea High School) in the early 1960s.

"As mayor, and in my role as a member of the foundation's Pawtucket Advisory Board, I've always been impressed with Bristol County Savings Bank and how it conducts its business. They are truly a community bank and have the local interest at heart." Doyle is a communicant at St. Cecilia's Church in Pawtucket and resides in Pawtucket with his family.
Bristol County Savings Bank has always been an active supporter in the communities it serves. The establishment of the Bristol County Savings Charitable Foundation - Pawtucket Advisory Board was announced at the grand opening of the bank's area office in 2001 in an effort to demonstrate the Bank's commitment to its new market. At that time, $1 million was contributed to the Foundation to provide grants to 501C (3) organizations which operate exclusively for charitable purposes within the city. The Foundation - Pawtucket Advisory Board has donated approximately $867,712 to organizations in the area since its inception.
The Bristol County Savings Charitable Foundation was established in 1996 as part of the bank's 150th Anniversary celebration. Its purpose is to fund needs that contribute to the economy and the social well-being of the people and institutions located in greater Attleboro/Taunton and greater Dartmouth, Mass., as well as Pawtucket. Since the foundation began, more than $6.7 million in grants to 501(3) organizations have been awarded.
In 2010, the Foundation awarded a record $941,711 to 136 different organizations.
