Kaplan Construction selected to build new additions for Miltons

August 22, 2013 - Retail
Kaplan Construction, a general contractor and construction management firm providing comprehensive building programs to commercial, healthcare, multifamily, worship, institutional, and historic rehabilitation/adaptive reuse clients across Greater Boston, has been selected to build two new additions for Miltons The Store for Men. It is the second time in 15 years that the two companies have collaborated on a major construction project at this location.
Kaplan will begin a major renovation to the Miltons flagship store this summer. The work includes exterior improvements on all elevations including a new two-story, steel frame and glass façade entrance, added display windows, and new tile and EIFS finishes. The new entrance design will enhance the store's connection to the adjacent Chestnut Hill Square project. A second, two-story addition will also be constructed to house new fitting rooms and a lounge area, as well as stock and display space. Also included in the project are select back-of-house renovations and updated finishes to the more than 10,000 s/f sales floor. Architectural design is being provided by Arrowstreet Inc. with Kaplan responsible for the design/build engineering of the mechanical, electrical, fire protection, and plumbing systems.
"Working with Kaplan has proven to be a successful formula for us," said Miltons COO Bill Leva.
With construction slated for completion in time for Thanksgiving, Kaplan will be working on an accelerated, phased work schedule this summer and fall. Miltons will remain open during the construction.
