Steel erection is underway for a new 80,544 s/f, $16.5 million, four-story dormitory on the campus of Southern New Hampshire University. Design/builder North Branch Construction of Concord, began sitework for the project in August. With foundations in place, steel erection began in November. When completed in the fall of 2013, the new co-ed residence hall will provide housing for over 300 students and will be the first dormitory on campus to feature a fitness center. The building will also be equipped with a 400 KW back up generator. The new dormitory is located behind the Hampton and Windsor Dormitories at the end of East Side Drive. JSA, Inc. of Portsmouth is providing architectural services for the project.
This is the second major project North Branch has constructed for Southern New Hampshire Univ. In 2011, North Branch completed construction of the operations center, which serves as a central hub for the university's building and grounds department. The operations center features office space and a warehouse that includes an equipment storage mezzanine with a 3,000 lb. vertical lift. Construction also included a three-bay shed located behind the operations center that is used to house sand, salt, vehicles, and equipment.
Southern New Hampshire Univ. is a not-for-profit, regionally accredited university with an 80-year history of educating successful professionals. SNHU has a total enrollment of more than 13,000 students in more than 150 undergraduate and graduate degree and certificate programs.
