Pawtucket, RI Pet Food Experts of Rumford has purchased and renovated the 3-story building at 175 Main St. for $2 million.   With a total investment of more than $4 million, including the initial renovation of 24,000 s/f, relocating the company’s headquarters and bringing 81 new employees to downtown. Additional square footage will be renovated as the company continues to grow.

As a fourth generation family-owned company, its roots are deeply planted in Rhode Island’s rich soil. What started as a small pet store in a basement in Rumford, R.I., has grown into a bi-coastal distributor of quality pet products to independently-owned pet specialty retailers.

Rumford Aquarium began in 1936 by Herbert Baker and his great-grandson, Michael Baker, president and CEO of Pet Food Experts, carries on his legacy by continuing to offer the best products to pet lovers across the country. The company distributes over 100 brands to over 3,400 customers from their home in Rhode Island to Washington State.

Establishing Pet Food Experts’ company headquarters in Pawtucket, was a simple decision for Michael Baker. “Downtown Pawtucket offers a convenient and beautiful location for our employees and visitors with historic Slater Mill just outside our doors. We are thrilled to call this city our home and to be a part of the revitalization of downtown Pawtucket,” said Baker.
