East Greenwich, RI Michael Pereira of June Realty was chosen as the R.I. Association of Realtors (RIAR) 2022 Realtor of the Year. The  award recognizes one of nearly 7,000 Realtors throughout the state for their dedication to the Realtor organization and their local communities.

The statewide winner is chosen from the winners of five regional Realtor of the Year awards. Winners are chosen based on their demonstrated commitment to their local, state and national boards of Realtors and their civic and charitable contributions.

A Realtor for the past 19 years, Pereira has served as treasurer, president-elect and president of the Greater Providence Board of Realtors, and as a board director and member of the executive team of the Rhode Island Association of Realtors. In addition, he has served on the board of directors of the National Association of Realtors and on committees for the Greater Providence Board including the Shared Services, Finance, Technology and Grievance Committees. He is often interviewed by print and broadcast media on market conditions and trending real estate issues.

Pereira’s commitment to his profession is also reflected in his work to enrich Rhode Island’s communities through civic engagement. Several charities such as Habitat for Humanity, have benefited from his commitment and leadership. A firm believer in diversity, equity and inclusion, he was instrumental in establishing scholarships to help under-represented individuals launch a career in real estate.

Pereira may be best known for his commitment to attracting and retaining new licensees to the real estate profession, offering information to students at local college fairs and stewardship and training to new agents in Realtor member orientation programs.

“Mike’s dedication to the real estate profession is unmatched. His energy for helping others is undisputed and we’re fortunate to have him representing the Realtor brand,” said Philip Tedesco, CEO of the Rhode Island Association of Realtors.

Pereira lives with his wife Susan and two stepdaughters, Madison and Delaney, in Woonsocket, R.I. He is a graduate of the RI Realtors Bryant University Excellence in Leadership Certificate Program and has earned the Commitment to Excellence (C2EX) endorsement, and the Pricing Strategy Advisor (PSA), ePro and Seller Representative Specialist (SRS) designations.

Other candidates for statewide Realtor of the Year included Sandi Warner, Newport County Board of Realtors; Tom Sweeney, Commercial and Appraisal Board of Realtors; Greg Eccleston, Kent Washington Association of Realtors; and Alex Parmenidez of the Northern Rhode Island Board of Realtors, all winners of their local boards’ Realtor of the Year award.
