Child & Family (C&F) officially opened the doors on October 29th to their new, 38,000 s/f community center at 31 John Clarke Rd.
C&F of Newport County is a non-profit organization dedicated to strengthening families and communities. It provides pre-school child care, counseling, home care for the elderly and disabled, substance abuse education, home-based child welfare, transitional housing for homeless mothers and their children, and workforce development.
The demand for community-based services and programs have increased during the current economic downturn and the new 38,000 s/f facility will serve as a hub of important services and programs for children, teens, families and elders in Newport County and beyond.
Designed to reduce overall energy consumption by 30% better than the energy code, the community center is the first project in Rhode Island to utilize National Grid's "Advanced Building Systems" program. It has earned a "Green Building of America" award from Real Estate & Construction Review.
The facility was designed by Vision 3 Architects of Providence, and constructed by E.W. Burman Construction of Warwick.
