Chapman Construction/Design's green-built project, Project Hope's Community Center was awarded Silver LEED certification from the United States Green Building Council (USGBC), making it the first LEED-certified green building in Boston's Roxbury neighborhood. Chapman served as the construction manager for the building, which was completed in September 2006. The four-story 18,000 s/f community center received a total of 34 credits to attain Silver LEED certification. Credits were granted for a variety of features and solutions including: the use of construction materials with recycled content; recycling of construction waste; daylighting in 90% of the indoor spaces; use of low-emitting materials; and IAQ strategies. The center houses a ground water recharge system, low-maintenance landscape features, bicycle storage and shower facilities. Chapman's project team was led by executive project manager George Dyroff, LEED AP, and the Center was designed by architects Finegold Alexander + Associates Inc.
