Larson Electronics' Magnalight.com has added the EPL-BS-70-TP1-100 Tripod Mounted Explosion Proof Metal Halide Light to its lineup of UL listed explosion proof lighting equipment. U.L. approved class 1 and 2, division 1 and 2 and approved for use in wet and marine environments, this tripod mounted lamp provides operators in hazardous locations with an excellent source of powerful and efficient lighting that is highly versatile and easy to use.
Magnalight's tripod mounted explosion proof light is made in the USA and designed to give operators in hazardous locations a highly versatile source of portable and powerful illumination that does not sacrifice durability or safety for portability. This weather and explosion proof metal halide light is mounted on a non-sparking collapsible tripod, giving operators an easily deployable source of powerful light that can be quickly setup and adjusted to effectively illuminate hazardous work areas, then easily stowed and transported between uses. With a 70 watt metal halide lamp producing 32,000 lumens and capable of illuminating 13,000 s/f of workspace, this lamp is ideal for use in hazardous areas where quality lighting is critical to safe operations.
The lamp assembly consists of a 70 watt metal halide bulb, internal ballast and aluminum finish reflector in a copper-free cast aluminum housing with a thermoset powder coat finish. The shell, covers and sealed fittings are also made of copper-free aluminum. The lens is constructed of thermal shock and impact resistant tempered glass, all of which results in a very rugged and portable explosion proof light solution.
The 70 watt metal halide lamp used in this unit produces the same amount of light, but much less heat than a comparable 400 watt halogen lamp and is rated for use in demanding wet and corrosive marine environments. As a further benefit to workers in hazardous areas, the metal halide lamp is resistant to damage from impacts and vibrations, unlike incandescent lamps which can break or burnout prematurely under vibratory conditions. The metal halide lamp also has a higher color temperature and color rendering index than halogen or high pressure sodium lamps, resulting in more accurate color resolution and object contrast in the illuminated area.
The non sparking aluminum tripod included in this lighting package provides a versatile and secure mounting solution yet weighs only 4 pounds and can be extended to eight feet and collapsed to 3 feet. The tripod affords operators the ability to quickly and securely elevate the lamp and improve its effective coverage of the work area. The lamp can then be easily adjusted up, down or from side to side and locked into the desired position.
Rounding out the fixture's versatile and workplace friendly features, this lamp is designed to operate on common 120 VAC current and is supplied with 100 feet of 16/3 SOOW cord ending in an explosion proof straight blade plug.
"The addition of a lightweight, portable tripod mount to a Class 1 Division 1, Class 2 Division 1 light is a continuation of our ongoing campaign to adapt explosion proof lighting to meet the needs of our customers," said Rob Bresnahan with Larson Electronics' magnalight.com. More and more, gas companies continue to demand lightweight, first responder hazardous location lighting that they can use to repair gas mains onsite. The lightweight tripod can be collapsed, folded up and stored in the truck's tool box. The 70 watt metal halide casts a powerful beam and has a handle that allows the operator to carry and store the explosion proof light easily. Unlike some of our larger, more powerful wheeled tripods with larger 400 watt metal halide lights, this explosion proof light is designed to be lightweight, portable and easy to move around. "
