I have been writing a monthly message for over 40 years, and last month's entry received the most comments ever. Gee, I wonder why? Maybe people are beginning to take a serious interest in what goes on that is out of our control. Here's an excerpt from the Declaration of Independence 1776. How many senators and congressmen do you think know this? Maybe it should be a prerequisite to run for office like being born in the USA. Maybe even more important than where someone is born. You will recall some of this from grade school: "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed." Are you ready for this part? "That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness."
Obviously, I can't read Donald Trump's mind, but my best guess is that he has read the Declaration and would like to see it followed.
He also knows that the U.S. government is the biggest business in the world. Or at least it used to be. It should be run by someone with successful business experience. A good example is mayor Michael Bloomberg, a vastly successful businessman, who now has patience and persistence in doing a good job as mayor of New York. Donald Trump is a successful national and international businessman and would know what steps should be taken to alter or to abolish the garbage that has led the country into recession, inflation, high gas prices, unemployment, etc. Here's why business people don't run for political office and why I
don't believe that Mr. Trump will run. Our government has over 400 decision makers (the senate and the house) , and the majority of them have to agree on a topic before it becomes law. A business owner has one decision maker and can get something done in the snap of a finger. Do the math. Does a good businessman have the patience to watch a good idea stalled, or go down the drain, and some other lousy ideas put into play - deregulation ideas that end up hurting the country and the governed? So, I predict that he won't run, but in the meantime he will continue to shake things up. A great effort. He is getting the attention to issues that have to be dealt with. And, go figure, he is doing it for you and for me, and for our safety and happiness.
This article was written before Donald Trump announced that he would not run for president in 2012.
