Southern Connecticut BOMA President's Message

January 19, 2012 - Connecticut
The BOMA membership was shocked and saddened by the sudden loss of its member, Nancee Gell of Security Specialists. As a regular attendee, Nancee was an avid supporter of our meetings and events and a dedicated and committed member of the program, marketing and emergency preparedness committees. She was always there to lend a hand and offer her enthusiasm. She will be missed. I knew that being president of a prestigious business organization would be a great honor, and that it would be rewarding, but I never thought that it would be so much fun! Southern CT BOMA members are a terrific group of people. With the help of truly dedicated board and committee members we worked hard to try and accomplish a great deal. We endeavored to build our membership and increase member benefits. We formed a marketing committee and garnered press for our association. A number of events that received media coverage include the Workplace Violence seminar, the 9/11 Commemorative program, the Trade Show and our collaboration with Sustainable Stamford. The joint toy drive between High Ridge Park and Southern CT BOMA, where over 150 toys were donated to local organizations, was also announced recently in the press. We created an Emergency Preparedness Committee and ran a table top exercise to help members sharpen their response skills. All of the standing committees worked hard to continue their efforts and advance the association. Incoming president, Deb Smith, has already been brainstorming to come up with ideas to further build our membership. So please be reminded that there are numerous benefits to being a Southern CT BOMA member. I know that Deb will be a terrific president and I would like to take this opportunity to wish her the best of luck in her new role. I would like to thank the BOMA board, committees and members-at-large for making my presidency a great experience. I'd also like to say a special thank you to executive director Sharon Moran for her continuous support. It has been a pleasure, and a privilege, working with all of you.
