RDK Engineers (RDK) celebrates the completion of the Boston Herald's new offices and welcomes the Herald team to the Seaport Center at 70 Fargo St. After 53 years of operation at One Herald Sq. in the city's South End, the Herald has made the move to Fargo St., where RDK's Boston office now has the pleasure of sharing a building with the Herald.
RDK worked closely with Dario Designs, Diversified Project Management, Structure Tone, who served as the construction manager, and the Beal Cos., the owner of Seaport Center.
RDK provided mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, teledata, security, and A/V engineering services for the 51,000 s/f space for the Herald's interactive and administrative offices. The newly refitted space covers a portion of the building's fifth and sixth floors and features a receptionist area, enclosed and open office space, conference rooms, data center, and a comprehensive newsroom that includes a broadcast component, video production, and a photography studio. Herald employees began moving into the space during the final week of January.
"We truly enjoyed working with everyone from Dario Designs, Diversified Project Management, Structure Tone, Beal Cos., and Herald Media. A newspaper is an essential resource to the community, and it was important to make sure the Boston Herald had a state-of-the-art space to cover breaking news," said RDK project manager Bill Punch. "We welcome our new neighbors to Fargo Street as the Herald begins its next chapter.
