Steve & Barry's, had another ground-breaking year in 2007.The retail chain opened over three million s/f and 70 new stores in 2007, now managing over 13 million s/f.
In addition, Steve & Barry's ranked first in the top ten list of all specialty retailers for new square footage in 2007, placing ahead of GAP and Abercrombie & Fitch. (Chain Store Age, December 2007)
Steve & Barry's also opened first-ever locations in Utah at Van Winkle Shopping Center, Maine at the Auburn Mall, Idaho at Karcher Mall and Mississippi at Bonita Lakes Mall. Currently, the average Steve & Barry's store is 60,000 s/f, but their uniqueness to consider properties that range from 20,000 to 170,000 s/f helps their expansion and exponential growth strategy.
"2007 was another extremely successful year for Steve & Barry's," said president Andy Todd. "Finding ourselves at the top of specialty retailers demonstrates how far we have come in the past year alone. In 2008, we have exciting plans to continue our tradition of exponential growth, another year that will be sure to prove we are a retail force to be reckoned with."
Steve & Barry's now operates over 250 stores in 37 states, with plans to continue the aggressive national expansion in 2008. Steve & Barry's plans to add first-time locations in Las Vegas and Hawaii and a second store in Manhattan in 2008.
