Beth Israel Deaconess Needham broke ground on the new Beth Israel Deaconess Cancer Center & Surgical Pavilion, a three-story, 30,000 s/f building, constructed by BOND. The center will consolidate BIDMC's west suburban cancer services into a new comprehensive center. The new surgical area will provide the ability for patients to have more advanced surgeries closer to home. This $24-million project represents Phase II of a dedicated plan to improve and expand care available to patients in the western suburbs. In October 2009, the community hospital opened a new emergency department and a new inpatient unit.
