Green Buildings
According to the USGBC Massachusetts Chapter, the Commonwealth is one of the country's leaders in the creation of new LEED-certified buildings.
In 2013, Mass. was the state with the 4th most certified green building space in the country per capita, just behind Illinois, Maryland and Virginia. We beat out other green building powerhouses like California and New York. Congratulations to the many green building professionals working on projects to get us to this position. You can read more at usgbc.org - "Top Ten States for LEED."
Recent LEED certifications include Boston Properties' 17 Cambridge Center (Platinum); BU Medical Student Residence (Gold) - administered by AHA Consulting Engineers; and US Fish & Wildlife Regional Office in Hadley MA (Gold). Congratulations to the teams that put these together - we'll see you at the 2014 LEED Showcase in September.
New corporate members of the USGBC include the New England Aquarium, La Freniere Construction, ZR Internet, and the Valle Group. Renewing members include EnerNOC, Partners Healthcare, Osram Sylvania and ADD, Inc. Thank you to all the new and continuing members of the USGBC in Massachusetts. We have a lot of work to do, and together we're making buildings better and healthier for everyone.
