Sullivan Tire and Auto Service celebrated the official opening of its 200,000 s/f warehouse distribution center with a ribbon-cutting and guided tour of the facility on April 28. Taunton mayor Thomas Hoye, Massachusetts state senator Marc Pacheco and other city officials attended the event.
Located within the Myles Standish Industrial Park, the newly constructed 30-bay facility houses over 140,000 tires and employs more than 100 Sullivan Tire personnel who work within the call center and distribution, customer service, and purchasing departments. The distribution center features increased storage and material handling capabilities, as well as a warehouse management system that will help sustain the company's growth plans.
The construction of the new Sullivan Tire Distribution Center is a result of an upcoming expansion throughout the New England region and will allow the company to consolidate existing warehouses in West Bridgewater and Brockton, Mass.
"We are thrilled that Sullivan Tire has decided to call Taunton its home," said mayor Hoye. "We congratulate them on their decision, and we look forward to our continued community partnership."
"Taunton was a perfect fit for our new distribution center, and the city has been wonderful to work with in seeing the project through," said Paul Sullivan vice president of marketing for Sullivan Tire. "This facility will be instrumental in fueling our continued growth throughout the region."
"Sullivan Tire is a strong addition to the Myles Standish Industrial Park, and will contribute to the growing industrial center," said Executive Office of Housing and Economic Development secretary Jay Ash. "It is exciting to see that the partnership between Taunton Development and MassDevelopment is successfully housing local businesses and creating good new local jobs."
