Attleboro, MA On February 20 at 10am,
Old Colony Habitat for Humanity will be opening a new ReStore at 9 Washington St. The store will accept donations of new and gently used building materials, furniture, kitchen cabinets and appliances for resale to the public at a fraction of their original cost. Donations come from retail stores, hotels and other businesses as well as individual home owners. Funds generated by the ReStore will allow OCHFH to significantly increase the number of affordable homes they build in their service area. The other benefits from the ReStore are:
- Significant savings for homeowners, facilitating the purchase of high quality merchandise at a fraction of the original cost
- Volunteer opportunities for community members – currently seeking volunteers from HS students to seniors (contact Ray Reed at 508-639-9577)
- Remove items from the waste stream – goal for this year is to keep 260+ tons out of local landfills.
Donations can be dropped off at the store or customers who call the store can arrange for pick-up. The ReStore will be open Wednesday through Saturday. All items will be cleaned and tested before being offered for sale.
Old Colony Habitat for Humanity was founded in 1989 as Attleboro Area Habitat for Humanity and is a locally run affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing organization. Habitat succeeds in reintroducing into neighborhoods the most basic building block of any community – the homeowner. Habitat provides resources, guidance, and hope to aspiring families. These families work from within their neighborhoods, creating the change we all seek, and repaying the investment that we have made in them.
Our service area comprises 12 towns in Bristol and Norfolk counties: Attleboro, Bellingham, Foxborough, Franklin, Mansfield, Norfolk, North Attleboro, Norton, Plainville, Rehoboth, Seekonk, and Wrentham.
Habitat for Humanity ReStores are nonprofit home improvement stores and donation centers that sell new and gently used furniture, home accessories, building materials and appliances to the public at a fraction of the retail price. Habitat for Humanity ReStores are proudly owned and operated by local Habitat for Humanity affiliates, and proceeds are used to build homes, community and hope locally and around the world. All of the proceeds are used to build homes in local communities and by keeping donated items out of landfills we help the environment.
