Bridgeport, CT Tyler Ballo of Monroe, Conn., has been awarded the 2016 Viking Construction Education Scholarship. Ballo, who is working towards a degree in architecture from Keene State College in New Hampshire, will receive $1,000 per year for the remaining two years in his program ($2,000 total).
Viking created this scholarship to support the next generation of professionals entering a construction-related field. Ballo plans to become a residential architect upon graduation and is studying design, CAD, drafting and model making to reach that goal.
“There are many facets to the construction business and many opportunities for hard-working creative thinkers to excel,” said Anthonly Gaglio, Sr., president of Viking. “This scholarship is meant to encourage young people like Tyler to keep pursuing their dreams. We are glad to present him with this award and our congratulations.”
Viking created this scholarship in 2012 and to date has committed $19,000 to students. Applicants need to complete an in-depth submission and essay, along with an in-person interview to be considered for the award, and must maintain a 2.7 grade point average to continue to receive the award.
