Salem, NH MSI Mechanical Inc. has been named the 2016 Commercial Contractor of the Year by ACCA, the Indoor Environment & Energy Efficiency Association, at ACCA’s 2016 Conference held in Charlotte, North Carolina.
“This year we had more innovative commercial contractors apply for this award than ever before in the past,” said Paul Stalknecht, ACCA president and CEO. “Our judges always have an extremely tough decision to make when they pick the recipient. This year’s winner, MSI Mechanical, illustrates the characteristics that all of the best commercial contractors in the country have in common.”
MSI Mechanical’s dedication to recruiting and growing a new generation of quality employees through a co-op program with local high schools made them a stand out to the judges. With the demand for qualified employees throughout the country, this unique program, which the company developed over a decade ago, serves as a great example for other contractors to grow the workforce.
“On behalf of the entire MSI Mechanical team and especially to my father along with my wife and family, it is with great honor I accept this prestigious award from ACCA,” said Brian Hooper, vice president of operations at MSI. “Not one single person has made this company what it is today - but it is a joint effort of dedicated and hardworking individuals. Together our TEAM strives to be the best that we can be. It is especially rewarding to be recognized for our efforts by our industry peers.”
In addition to accepting the award, Hooper participated as faculty chair for the Conference’s Commercial Track in which he presented to his peers MSI’s School to Career Program with helpful tips on how businesses can start their own program.
Hooper also participated on an interactive panel called “What’s Your Problem?” Conference attendees asked the panel questions on topics ranging from the pros and cons of various contracting software packages, managing recurring service agreement payments, handling the slow season, and creating incentive programs for employees.
