Norwalk, CT Avison Young’s Fairfield/Westchester office sponsored the annual Norwalk Grassroots Tennis & Education (NGTE) Play in May Tournament and Gala on May 6 at country clubs throughout the area.
The mission of NGTE is to build strength of character and a foundation for success for underserved youth through tennis and education. Their goal is to ensure each participant is on a path towards success on the court, in the classroom and in life.
“NGTE programming was developed based on a theory of change: Engage underserved children in Norwalk through tennis, offer a safe and welcoming family environment, and provide them comprehensive support to meet their academic, physical, and social-emotional needs,” said Cahill. “This helps build a foundation that enables them to graduate high school prepared for college and/or a career, putting them on a path toward greater opportunity and success.”
The day-long event started with tennis tournaments beginning at 8:30 a.m. and culminateD with the annual gala at the Darien Country Club at 300 Mansfield Ave. The gala kicked off at 5:45 p.m. with a live screening of the Kentucky Derby, followed by dinner, open bar, live auction and casino style games. All proceeds benefit the ongoing programs of the NGTE.
