The Open Architecture Collaborative (OAC) will explain how the organization operates several projects for non-profits in the Boston area and several educational, healthcare and community projects around the world.
NEW - Creating Resilient Communities in War and Disaster
Driven by the same question — What Can Designers Do? — the Open Architecture Collaborative Boston, Build Health International (BHI), Resilient SEE, and Syrian Initiative for Refugee Children have collaborated to bring their movement to ABX 2018. The pavilion looks at how the creative fields can help displaced refugees. The goals and initiatives of each group is shared through presentations held daily on the show floor.
Design Technology Throwdown
Sponsored by BSA Dynamo-litia, Design Technology Throwdown returns to ABX 2018 for a competition where teams face off to see who can design the best solution to a mutual design problem. A champion will be crowned for the best use of contemporary technology to develop, document and validate their design.
ABX Photo Exhibit
Photos celebrating New England architecture, landscape architecture and interior design will be on display for viewing in a custom display along the aisles of the exhibit hall.
Education
Educational Conference
An integral part of the two-day show experience, the educational conference program offers 100 accredited workshops designed to stimulate your thinking, sharpen your skills and grow every aspect of your business. Organized into 13 tracks, topics include: code and standards, enclosures, project delivery, urban solutions, brand and marketing, and more.
Pre-Conference
In addition, two half-day intensive workshops are offered pre-conference to provide attendees a jump on their ABX educational journey with a more personal, in-depth exploration in a smaller group environment. Also taking place pre-conference is a full-day Safety Assessment Program Training (SAP) class that provides knowledge and protocol to evaluate homes, buildings and infrastructure in the aftermath of a disaster.

Colormix Forecast
Sherwin-Williams has gathered 42 trend colors into a master palette, then arranged them into six unique color personalities — learn how these colors will impact design trends and perspectives in 2019.
Women in Design Symposium
Created to foster conversation and learning, this one-day symposium will explore grassroots movements which have increased as people seek to fill voids in social, policy, and implementation aspects of the built environment.
