Cambridge, MA The Bulfinch Companies, Inc. has secured an 1,300 s/f lease with Cambridge Artists Cooperative, Inc. (CAC) in Harvard Sq. Mike Wilcox, senior vice president and director of leasing at Bulfinch, served as the leasing broker for the landlord.
“We are extremely pleased to continue our long-term relationship with CAC and that they have chosen to remain at 59 Church St., continuing to enhance the Harvard Sq. community with art, craft and culture,” said Wilcox.
59-63 Church St. is a 10,822 s/f, three-story office, residential, and retail building with a tremendous location in Harvard Sq. The building is steps away from The Red Line, the Charles Hotel, One Brattle Sq., Harvard University and a host of retail, restaurant, and banking services. Bulfinch worked with CAC to negotiate a two-year extension that allowed the coop to remain in the building and the square.
“Cambridge Artists Cooperative is elated that Bulfinch has made it possible for us to remain at 59a Church,” said Ann Szerlip, CAC. “Our space has been consolidated to one floor and our artists work has been redisplayed to accommodate this change.”
CAC’s announcement that they will remain in Harvard Sq. has been well received by the community and city council members. “I’m so glad that CAC will be able to remain in its longtime space on Church Street,” said Jan Devereux, vice mayor of the city. “Over its 30+ years the CAC has attracted so many loyal customers who were worried the artists might be displaced. The gallery offers unique artist-made items that people can’t find in other places or online. Harvard Square needs more stores like the CAC to set it apart from other retail districts.”
